Some of our reviews…

And here’s our book!  We have had some great reviews:

Really enjoying reading this book with my son! Three different tales following Cedric the bear, each with an engaging story and lovely illustrations. I like how it’s based on a real handmade teddy bear which really brings the story to life. Thoroughly recommend!

A charming book that quickly became a favourite with my child. The three stories are sweet and contain just enough drama to be exciting for children, without being too scary; the illustrations are delightful. It’s a book with real heart.

This is a lovely children’s book! Cedric the Bear has some brilliant adventures and it was an enjoyable read for the grown-ups as well as my little ones

Cedric features in the Basingstoke Gazette

The Adventures of Cedric the Bear was featured in the Basingstoke Gazette today. It’s been a long journey from when Cedric was first created in 2012 to now being able to say we have a book published.

Have a look at the article here.

Publication Date!

In 2019, Liesbeth Heenk of Amsterdam Publishers agreed to publish our book.

How Cedric became a book!

Cedric and Katie were in a TV competition called Paul Martin’s Handmade Revolution – and they won! Lucia, a writer, saw the show and called Katie to suggest turning Cedric into the star of a book. They agreed, contacted Anne, an illustrator, and together they created The Adventures of Cedric the Bear.

How Cedric was made

Cedric Junior foot fabric small

Before Cedric came to life in the books he was a handmade teddy bear.

I made Cedric to sit approximately 4 inches tall and filled him with premium glass beads to give just the right weight. I hand wove his fabric using a beautifully soft Tencel yarn and a twill structure which is what gives him his unique diagonal line and diamond pattern. I cut and hand stitched him together before finishing him with a stitched nose and glass eyes.

I completed every stage by hand using traditional techniques meaning approximately 20 hours of love went in to making him.
